HOW BAZAAR3D TIERS WORK
Leagues, not gates.
I built the tier system for the shops, not the buyers. Buyers search by what they need printed — the material, the tolerance, the certification, the turnaround. Tiers do a different job: they rank the shops, give every shop a visible ladder to climb, and set the guidelines for the print world. A tier never decides who gets listed on Bazaar3D. If you're a real shop that prints customer parts, you belong here — whatever league you're in.
The compliance-ready shops. Tier 1 means the shop publishes hard-to-get certifications on its own website — the kind that take real audits, real money, and real discipline to earn. If your part needs to fly, heal, or survive a battlefield, start here.
Qualifying certifications: AS9100 · ISO 9001 · ISO 13485 · ITAR registration · CMMC · IATF 16949
A real commercial operation — professional equipment or a full print fleet, business customers, serious output. No high-end certifications yet. Most of the best value on Bazaar3D lives here: shops that can absolutely do your job and will pick up the phone.
The garage innovators. Owner-operated, local, often one technology done really well. This is the mom-and-pop heart of the directory — the shop down the street that treats your prototype like it's their own.
The climb
Tiers are stable — they don't shuffle around. But they do move up, on hard evidence:
- Tier 3 → Tier 2: become a full commercial operation — professional equipment or fleet, business customers, professional quoting and turnaround.
- Tier 2 → Tier 1: earn one of the qualifying certifications above and publish it on your site. That's the whole bar. No politics, no favorites.
- Dominate your league is also a fine strategy. The best Tier 3 FDM farm in a metro, or the sharpest Tier 2 in a state, wins plenty of work — the search ranks complete, verified profiles above lazy ones in any tier.
The rules behind the rules
- Evidence only. A tier is set from what the shop publishes on its own official website. No guessing, no rumors.
- Stable. A tier changes only on new hard evidence — a certification earned, a claim with proof. Never reshuffled on vibes.
- Print farm is a badge, not a tier. Running 100 printers is a business model, not a rank — farms compete in whatever tier they've earned.
- Single-technology shops cap at Tier 2. Breadth is part of what "industrial" means — even at massive scale.
